The state plan states that "Programs for the gifted should be integrated into the basic school program, and students should be involved continuously rather than intermittently.”
“We think that this is one of the most important statements in the plan,” Rowe said. “We all know that the child is gifted, and that that child is going to be gifted all of the time and not from two to three on Tuesday afternoon when they are going out to do something.”
Rowe said that the basis for the Rappahannock plan is the integration of the gifted program into the regular curriculum. Bloom’s Taxonomy, a method of assisting teachers in analysis and evaluation of gifted students, is being used in the Rappahannock plan.
A workshop on the use of Bloom’s Taxonomy and how to integrate the gifted program into the core curriculum was held for the teachers last month. The Virginia core curriculum are covered in the Standards of Learning Objectives. The state has published
