CAPT. DAVE GERRISH
practice low-level flight and “ridge crossings”, tactical maneuvers using natural barriers to hide from radar.
Approaching the Blue Ridge over Rappahannock provides ideal conditions for practicing these tactics.
A Local Pilot Visits
Perhaps more appreciative of Rappahannock than other military pilots that fly VR 1764 is Capt. Dave Gerrish, 38, a member of the 149th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 192nd Tactical Fighter Group, Virginia Air National Guard. Living just across the county line near Orlean, he looks forward to training missions “over the beautiful hills and valleys in my backyard”.
