With Rappahannock's annual houaa tour just over a week away, owners of three fine county homes opened their doora for a closer look. Ae homes on the tour are CUfton, located just outside FUnt Hill; Ducheese Farm, which is three miles wwt of Amfcavflle; and Greenoch Farm, situated on the south slope of Overtop Mountain west of SperryviDe.
Clifton
The crest room at Clifton was added to the original house in 1962. (The wall of the original house is on the left in the photo.) The interior woodwork, of pegged pine and poplar paneling, and the balusters duplicate the originals in the o!0
The stair leads to a central hall on either side of which are bedrooms. Connecting one of these to one on the floor above is a "Maiden Stair,” once sole access to the latter.
Two antique Korean chests are below the stairs (left center in the photo). The marble fireplace on the wall of the raised dining room was brought from France to Austin, Tex., the former home of Dr. and Mrs, Rodgers, who, with daughter Karan and her children, own the home.
The most important thing in life is never to have too much of anything.
