Peach Growers9 Conference Advance registration is necessary for the Virginia Peach Growers’ Conference, which will take place at the Ingleside Red Carpet Inn in Staunton, Va. Nov. 29 and 30. Registration fees per person are $25; dinner per person is $12. Dinner only will be served the first evening; the conference adjourns at 11:40 a.m. on the final day. Knitting Class To Begin A beginners knitting class will be held for all interested individuals on November 15, 20 and 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Courthouse in Washington. The first project will be a simple scarf, a great gift for Christmas. Participants are asked to bring a set of size 8 knitting needles and a skein of four-ply yarn of your color choice. This is being sponsored by the Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers.
Beef Cattle Course Scheduled Making beef cows pay their way is the objective of a course offered this winter by Lord Fairfax Community College. Offered on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. participants will assess the profitability of their own operations and develop a management program. Classes start December 3. Registration will be held at the college on November 20, 21, and 26-29 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information call the college at 869-1120.
Veterans Day Featured Speaker Lt. CoL Hans R. Heinz, USMC (Ret) wifi be the featured speaker at a memorial service held at the Culpeper National Cemetery on Veterans Day, November 11 at 2 p.m. The service will also feature placing of memorial wreaths by all patriotic groups and civic organizations. Individuals are also invited to participate. Post 330, American Legion is sponsoring the memorial service and invites everyone to attend an open house at the poet home after the service. I
Christmas Bazaar Scheduled The Virginia Baptist Home on Route 15 in Culpeper is having a Christmas Bazaar Saturday, November 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. Crafts and baked goods will be on sale.
