Keim also manages Wingate Point on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for waterfowL “I was always interested in wildlife as 1 grew up in Pennsylvania, but I became active in the conservation side of it in about 1946,” Keim said.
Ever since that time, Keim has been active in various areas of wildlife conservation. Bromley wrote that since the 1950’s Keim has worked for development of wildlife cover and food plots on military reservations. He was president and organizer and is a Life Member of the Naval Air Station Lakehurst Conservation Chib in New Jersey.
In 1965, Keim started developing a 5,000 acre management area for upland game and waterfowl, wrote Bromley. Keim originated the formal agreement between the governor of New Jersey and the Navy Department for joint participation so that the conservation program would continue.
Keim is now working to see that a financial-incentive program to help private landowners who manage part or all of their properties for wildlife is adopted in Virginia. Four major organizations, including the Virginia Wildlife Federation, have endorsed versions of his resolution. Keim supports 15 different conservation organizations.
