The Blue Ridge Region of the American Lung Association will sponsor a Family Asthma Workshop at the Culpeper Memorial Hospital, November 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
A free service of Christmas Seals, the workshop will inform parents and their asthmatic children about the most common chronic disease of childhood. Children with asthma have mild to severe breathing difficulties during episodes characterized by wheezing and coughing.
Mrs. Alyce Stewart of Culpeper, workshop facilitator, says, “We hope this workshop will help to prevent se-;il rtous asthma attacks and make, children and parents more comfortable with asthma.”
Asthmatic children, ages 5 through 12 years, and their parents are invited to attend the workshop. Following a general information film, “A Child with Asthma.” two registered nurses will teach the children relaxation breathing techniques which they can use to help relieve their asthma symptoms during an attack.
