On October 26, by “special” session of the board of supervisors $185,000 was authorized for the purchase of 100-plus acres of land to be used as a proposed landfill site, The supervisors did not reveal the location of the proposed land site.
Through casual conversation with neighbors, rumors as to the location of this proposed landfill site came to light.
Concerned and confused, I attended the Planning Commission's meeting on Thursday night. There 1 confronted one of the members of the commission, who confirmed the fact that the purposed site was to be a plat pf land adjacent to my home.
After all the years of blood, sweat and tears spent working and saving until my retirement, we built a home in an area that was to be our “serenity”. It simply made me furious to think my tax dollars were going tq be used to destroy this virgin lands adjacent to our home. As well as the enormous contamination impact on the Rush and Covington rivers which frame our home, not to mention the pollution of
