of the Chesapeake Bay, the lack of a waterfowl habitat program and the lack of incentives. In fact, disincentives exist for private landowners to create
and maintain wildlife habitat,” Keim said. “We also need the area county extension agents, fish and game professionals and our state, and federal
forestry professional* td fabricate a co- . hesive program to crtete and maintain wildlife habitat, and te recognize its economic and recreational value.”
Keim also sees room for improvement nationally in wildlife habitat management. "Die Department at the Interior, specifically the National
Park Service, the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management have ’ also been severely deficient in this respect,” said Keim. Keim said that be
hopes that his award will help people, especially youth, to understand more of what is involved in conservation, and to want to become involved.
