HIGHWAY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC APPRENTICE The Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation has an opening for Highway Equipment Mechanic Apprentice at the Wairenton Residency Shop. February 15, 1985 Duties: Assists * lumeyman mechanic in automotive repair and maintenance work. Performs simpler operations as specifically instructed by mechanic. Operates motor vehicles as needed. Installs batteries, spark plugs, starters, generators, mufflers, distributor heads, exhaust pipes and mufflers. Pumps gas; cleans and cares for tools and machinery; performs housekeeping and grounds work Qualifications: Ability to perform heavy manual labor; skill to operate light equipment, including automboiles; demonstrated mechanical ability Must possess a valid Virginia Operator's License. In addition to the Application for Employment (Form DPT 10012), applicants may submit supplementary information to demonstrate that they possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.
