made the gymnasium possible. Special thanks were given to architect Michael Lysczek of Washington, D.C. who designed the 17,000 square foot gymnasium to compliment the original school buildings rather than overpower them, and to Gregory Monahan of Boston, Va. who oversaw the construction.
The ceremony continued with speeches by Student Body President, Doug Brooks, and Parent’s Association,, member Tim Tarr. Tarr pledged support to the “expanding opportunity” that Wakefield School represents.
The National Anthem was played, and the colors were presented by Charlotte Cannon of Culpeper and Allen Grimm of Front Royal. Accompanying them was Wakefield’s Fife and Drum Corps. Fife and Drum members were Matthew Lynn of Washington, Va., Malcom McCurry of Strasburg! Christopher Sciurba of Sperryville[ and Chuck Williams of Warrenton.
A reception for guests and students followed the ceremonies.
