For anyone who has weighed the positive and negative aspects of couponing and refunding and is willing and able to spend the time and effort, these activities can be rewarding. Stories abound about shoppers who have reduced their grocery bill by as much at 40-60 percent each week through couponing. Many also combine refunding with couponing to gain additional savings which are nontaxable. These “super shoppers” use a variety* of strategies to accomplish their goal of spending less at the checkout counter. And, now for some recipes for the week we have chosen the following.

Apple Spice Bread

1-lb, can applesauce 4 eggs, beaten 1 cup soybean oil margarine, softened 1/2 cup red cooking wine 4 cups flour 3 cups sugar 1 tablespoon cinnamon 2 teaspoons baking soda 11/2 teaspoons salt

Combine applesauce, eggs, margarine and wine in large mixing bowl. Sift together remaining ingredients and blend into applesauce mixture. Pour into two greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until tests done. Remove from pan and allow to cool before slicing.

Yz cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 13/4 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda
