At age 17, Angie Howard has won eight pageant titles, has been working to perfect her art for 13 years and has been teaching in some capacity for the past seven years. It is no wonder that her “only goal is to be a professional dancer.”
Howard has been dancing since she was four. She takes dancing classes on Saturdays when she practices for five and a half hours. On the days that she teaches, she practices for four hours, and she spends two hours practicing on her free days. , With the hours of practice, taking and teaching classes and her school life as a senior at Culpeper High School, Howard understandably has few free days. She teaches dance on Tuesdays in Rappahannock through the Child Care and Learning Center to three different age groups.
“The little kids are cute, but I can see dedication and real progress in the teens and school age groups,” Howard said. She enjoys teaching, and she said that surprisingly her age has never been a problem. “The parents are very supportive and they’ve accepted me,” said Howard.
