Rappahannock County is now totally in the Virginia Gypsy Moth Quarantine. I have received several questions on what articles are regulated by the quarantine. The following items are regulated: trees, woody shrubs, logs, pulpwood, firewood, mobile homes, cut Christmas trees, recreational vehicles and equipment from hazardous sites.
Regulated articles may be moved from the regulated area when it is determined they have not been exposed to infestation, have been examined and found to be free of the moth, when the article has been treated by an approved method to destroy the moth or the articles have been grown, stored, etc. in such a manner that in the judgement of the inspector it will not transmit the gypsy moth. If one or more of these requirements are met, a certificate may be issued that allows for movement from regulated areas.
