Is this a bizarre state of mind? Who among us does not struggle daily with the very same feelings? Of course, for most of us the struggle is carried on with less intensity than with the truly suicidal.
The point is that, with some reflection, suicide need not seem so mysterious. As human beings, we all know what it means to suffer. To understand a deeper despair than that which we have experienced ourselves requires some intuition and imagination.
If we make an effort to understand it, then suicide will become less of a threat. Why?
Because we will be more sensitive in detecting when a person needs some help.
