In this, my first newspaper column, I hope to open the lines of communication between myself and you, the reader.
It is my goal to cover the topics that are of interest to you, because without your readership my purpose is, at best, questionable.
Who am I? Well now, let’s see. I am 43 years old, married 18 years and I have two boys, ages 13 and 8. I am the committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop 1187 of Goldvein, an archery coach for the 4-H Fauquier Shooting Sports Club, an NRA certified shotgun instructor and an avid, almost addicted, outdoorsman.
My interests include archery, canoeing, backpacking, fishing, hunting, camping, cooking, conservation, wildlife, travel, photography and kids. But my real love is bowrhunting.
I have bowhunted and fished over most of the U.S. and Canada, with more than 50 animals taken with the bow, including whitetail deer in Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland, mule deer in Colorado and Wyoming, elk in Colorado and Wyom
