Town seeks sewer help
The Berryville Town Council has vowed to fight for state funds to help improve its ailing sewer system.
Mayor J.C. Huffman has requested time to speak at a March 29 hearing conducted by the State Water Control Board. The town wants a $872,000 grant from the state. But Berryville ranks very low on the state’s appropriation list because it recently used state funds to help improve its water system.
The grant would represent 55 percent of the cost of the improvements the town wants to make. The town will have to match that with $676,000.

selection commission
Twenty-three residents Fauquier County residents say they are willing to fill one of two new seats on the Fauquier School Board Selection Commission.
Nine women and 14 men applied for the posts on the commission which selects Fauquier’s School Board members. Five residents were from Lee District and 18 live in the Marshall district.
