which means less grease in the gears of the local government. Which means we can’t afford to pay teachers a decent salary, or see more county improvements like the Emergency Service Dispatcher System which helps get the Sheriff or Fire Dept, to your house faster.
Of course there are two ways to look at every problem and we could turn the local litter problem into an excellent financial asset for the county. Everybody knows there’s money in the trash business. Let’s levy some whopper fines on littering, hide the deputies in the bushes and wammo we’ll get some sucker for an easy five hundred bucks. If the trashee can’t, pay we’ll put him on a county trash patrol for five days and he can save himself $100 a day in fines. Why, imagine how much money it would be if we caught everyone out of twenty litterers. Look at the roadside and add it up.
Why maybe we could expand the library, or the High School, or pay the commonwealths’ attorney a little something. There’s money to be made in those bushes and ditches! Why, maybe we’ll make so much that we can abolish county stickers and give the law even more time to devote to the “trash traps”. When was the last time you remember seeing a littering case listed in the General Court Cases?
Doggone, maybe we could even afford an animal shelter.
