Home Health Care Offered

Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal has announced plans to begin offering home health care for homebound patients of any age who - require medical care.

“Home health care is an increasingly important option in modem medical care, and Warren Memorial is at the forefront offering this service,” said C. Douglas Rosen, administrator of the hospital. “As hospitals are forced by Medicare to discharge patients earlier, home health care is the best way to assure that the patient continues to receive necessary medical treatment. Home care is less expensive than extended hospital or nursing home treatment with no sacrifice in quality of care.”

Home Health Care will include skilled nursing, nutrition counseling, physical therapy, IV antibiotic therapy, and patient and family education.

All services will be tailored to the individual’s needs.

Care is initiated by the patient’s physician and administered by registered and licensed practical nurses, home health aides, and other trained professionals.

• Book Discussion At Library

On Monday, April 8 at 7:30 the Rappahannock Library will feature The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers as the third book in its discussion series, “Growing Up In the South.” This bittersweet novel about love, loneliness and early adolescence helped establish McCullers as one of the South’s finest writers.

Dr. Aim Fisher, assistant professor at the University of Virginia, will provide commentary and lead discussion. The book discussion series is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and is free to the public. Books are available at the Library for loan or sale.

The last two books in the series will be A Childhood: The Biography of a Place by Harry Crews (April 22) and A Death in the Family by James Agee (May 6).
