Loudoun Budget
Nears $83 Million
Loudoun County Administrator Philip A. Bolen last week proposed an $82.7 million county 1986-86 budget that calls for an 8.2-percent increase in local real estate taxes.
The administrator’s recommended budget, which the board of supervisors will review over the next few months, includes $1.8 million in new programs and requires a real estate tax rate of $1.19 per $100 of assessed value — a nine-cent increase over the current $1.10.
The proposed tax rate means an increase of $84 a year on a home assessed at $93,000. The tax on that home would go from $1,023 to $1,107 a year.
In his presentation to the board, Bolen said the there are 4,555 new residents in the county since the current board took office in January 1984. That averages about 72 people a week, and they are generating a greater demand for services, he said.
