The Florida freeze is being blamed for rising orange juice costs, states Eva Woofter, marketing specialist with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Juice prices will increase due to the loss of the Florida oranges, but never fear, turn your thoughts to switching to another favorite, Virginia apple juice!
Sixty percent of Virginia’s annual apple crop goes into processed apple products. Virginia apple juice is often overlooked by consumers as a great breakfast drink alternative. Did you know that Virginia apple juice has no added sugar? The taste is natural and the sweetness comes from the fruit sugar of the apple. Apple juice is naturally nutritious and has about the same calories as orange juice.
