The Virginia Army National Guard buddy platoon is particularly' well suited for high school and college students who are looking for a challenging part time job that will not interfere with their schooling. Basic training fits conveniently into this year’s summer break, and Advanced training into the following summer.
“With our $2,000 cash enlistment bonus, or $4,000 or more in educational assistance, plus the $1,200 they will earn during basic training, this is one of the best-paying part time jobs any student can possibly expect to find,” LTC Scott said. “And, it’s a real adventure for most of these young men,” he continued, “the Army does a great job of building them up gradually through physical training and tough soldiering, until they’re in better shape physically and mentally than they ever realized was possible.”
To join the 1985 Virginia Buddy Flatodn, men between the ages of 17 and 34 must enlist in their local Virginia Army National Guard infantry unit before May 1, and be prepared to leave for Basic Training on June 12.
