Join The Virginia Chili Family
The first Saturday in May has become a special day on the calendar of Virginia’s finest chili cooks. That’s the date set aside for the best bowls of red to compete for the first place title in the Virginia Championship Chili Cookoff. The 1985 cookoff, sponsored by the Roanoke Times & World News, will be held Saturday, May 4 on the streets of the Roanoke City Farmers’ Market.
This will be the 6th chili cookoff Virginia has hosted and many of the cooks are repeat contestants. Therefore, jt is like old home week, when these dedicated and almost serious cooks reunite to cook chili, share tall tales and have a great time trying to outshine their competitors with wild
