Richard R. (Bob) Freeman, 74, of North Plainfield, New Jersey, died on Wednesday, March 20 at Muhlenberg Hospital, Painfield, N.J.
Mr. Freeman was born March 23, 1910, in Washington. He was the son of the late Jane F. Olden of North Plainfield, New Jersey, formerly of Rappahannock County. He was employed by Howell Electric Motors Division of Butler Aviation until his retirement in 1974.
Before moving to New Jersey in 1944, Bob, as he was known, was a member of the choir and served as church clerk at Promise Land Baptist Church near Washington. After moving to New Jersey he united with Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a member and past chairman of the Deacon Board, member of the Men’s Club, Sunday School, Usher Board and Senior Choir. He was a member of the King Hiram Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle of North Plainfield; two daughters, Lillian F. Aylor of Washington and Barbara F. Hemmons of Bethlehem, Pa.; four sons, James R. Freeman and Forrest Lee Freeman of Washington, Richard Freeman of Piscataway, New Jersey and William Freeman of Scotch Plaiim, New Jersey; a step daughter, Mildred Whitfield ,of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Lawrence Freeman of Philadelphia, Pa., 15 grandchildren; one great grandson, Christopher Turner; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield, New Jersey on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m.
The family has requested that donations in memory of Mr. Freeman be made to' the American Heart Association.
