Mr. Lee testified that Ms. Williams had brandished a weapon at him while in her car on September 4. Ms. Williams testified that she did not own a gun and that what Mr. Lee must have seen was the protracted lens of her camera.
Ms. Williams and Mr. Lee have known each other closely for a long time.
Mr. Lee accused Ms Williams of continuing harassment over a period of several months. He also said that he had gone to great lengths to avoid contact with Ms. Williams.
On the day of the alleged incident, Ms. Williams had been photographing Mr. Lee’s horses in an effort to prove to him that he had been lying to her during an earlier discussion.
On that day, Mr. Lee had taken a day off from work in order to examine legal avenues to avoid future contact with Ms. Williams. After witnessing her taking photographs near his property he called the sheriffs office to determine whether she could be arrested. He was informed that, because she was on a public road, no arrest was possible.
Later Ms. Williams departed and proceeded to a gasoline station in Sperryville to make a telephone call. While there, Mr. Lee drove his car near Ms. Williams. She then pointed to a red car in the station; she said in testimony that she did this in order to ask Mr. Lee if he recognized that car because a similar vehicle had been involved in an earlier incident of which Mr. Lee was aware.
