The Treasure Houses of Britain is a wonderful Christmas gift to the Rappahannock Library. The sixhundred page book was published by Yale University Press for the National Gallery of Art and serves as the catalogue to their current exhibition. It also provides an overview of five hundred years of British art collecting and the important role of country houses in preserving this art. The color plates of paintings, jewelry, tapestries, silver, sculpture, and furniture are beautiful! You will want to browse through Treasure Houses whether or not you have been able to visit the exhibition.
Other gifts to the Library are subscriptions to Bon Appetit, Gourment and The Virginia Biological Farmer, and a handsome red and blue “open” sign for the door.
The library will be closed for the holidays Monday, December 23 through Thursday, the 26th and Mondav, the 30th through Wednesday, the first of January.
The Library will be open Friday, the 27th and Saturday, the 28th of December, and on Thursday, January 2nd will resume the regular schedule.
