An v nexpected treasure trove of ! original 18th-century music was r turned into a new Colonial Williams, 'burg recording, recently released and titled, “A Gentlewoman’s Pursuit.”
The album/cassette tape features baroque instrumental and popular vocal music that once belonged to Ann Blaws Barraud, a Williamsburg resident from 1783 to 1799. Hers is Williamsburg’s oldest extant music collection.
Colonial Williamsburg musical consultant James S. Darling discovered the three bound volumes of printed music with Mrs. Barraud’s name on them while he was researching other music in the rare boo)(8 section of the Earl Gregg Swem Library at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg.
