On Monday, Charles Vaughn, a State Police information officer, said that the items seized included a computer, software, documents, writings and cards, two goat skins and a goat’s head. He said that it was his understanding that the goat skins were found tacked on a wall inside one of the cabins, and that the head was hung on an outside wall of one shed.
On Monday and Tuesday, State Police and Madison County investigators returned to the Pettie property on Rt. 646. According to Mr. Vaughn, “based on various information they did investigate two possible gravesites on the Etlan property. On Feb. 9, investigators dug by hand an area on the property in an attempt to locate buried remains . . . Today, (Tuesday) a highway department backhoe was utilized to excavate an area approximately 30 feet long, 12 feet wide and six to seven feet deep, which turned up no evidence of buried remains.”
