He said even those who retire are faced with “tail coverage” premiums of about $20,000 a year for 20 yean. He said the coverage is needed because an obstetrician is liable until each child he deliven reaches age 20.
Under Sen. Fean’ bill, lawsuits against obstetricians could not be filed more than two yean after the alleged malpractice. But children under the age of six at the time of the injury would have until age eight to sue.
