RICHMOND — In a peculiar overnight flip-flop, the House on Sunday narrowly defeated a bill that would have required hunters to wear blaze-orange clothing.
After lengthy debate Saturday afternoon, the House passed the controversial bill, 49-47.
But on Sunday, it reversed itself and defeated the measure 4947 after a delegate asked that the previous day’s vote be reconsidered.
Chief patron Del. Shirley F. Cooper (D-Yorktown) has argued that blaze-orange clothing has contributed directly to the decrease in hunter accidents and deaths in other states.
