The board’s administrative assistant said he’d explained the county’s current situation:
• Trash now deposited in dumpsters and disposed of by a private contractor, Community Trash Inc., which operates a private landfill jointly with the landowner, Clifton Clark.
• The permit for the site, already extended for one year through a special emergency exception, to expire July 1,1987.
• Threatened suit by landowners adjoining the existing landfill if that site is used after July 1.
• The board’s public affirmation that it has no plans to continue to use the Clifton Clark property as a landfill past July 1.
• Engineering reports received last week concluding that two tracts under consideration as landfill sites are unsuitable.'
Mr. McCarthy said that the representatives from the Division of Solid Waste Management asked if the landfill on the Clark property could be expanded. “I told them that, according to their own man, Bob Forman (regional landfill supervisor) there’s nowhere to expand to . . . The board recognizes the ultimate goal of removing the landfill from the Clark property. Extending the landfill there is not an option they are considering.”
