Media reports described the children as dirty and covered with bug bites, their physical condition construed as a sign of neglect. “When you have two adults taking six small children on a camping trip, they’re going to get dirty. If they’re not dirty, then the adults in charge are either unbelievably organized or they haven’t been camping!” As to the bug bites, “if you go camping, particularly in the South, you’re going to get bug bites,” Dr. Adams said.

The report was later changed to one child may have been sexually abused, and as of Wednesday morning a psychologist hired by the social services agency had concluded that there was “insufficient evidence” to support charges of sexual abuse. “I just can’t imagine them (the Finders) tolerating that (sexual abuse),” Dr. Adams said of the Finders.
