TWENTY YEARS AGO, this giant 180-foot high yellow poplar, which yielded 2,500 board-feet of lumber, was felled at Wakefield Manor, the property of Mrs. Lillian Noyes at Huntly. The tree, estimated to be 400 years old, was felled with a chainsaw with a 30-inch bar. The tree was reported as solid, with no rot. Woodsmen who assisted in dropping the giant tree included (from left) William Cameron Jr., Clarence Walters, William Cameron Sr., Lyle Didawick and Benton Houghton. ^—_ J
