Del. A. Victor Thomas (DRoanoke), the bill’s most vehement opponent, contends that the measure is unnecessary because more than 90 percent of all hunters already wear some article of clothing that is blaze orange.
He told the House Saturday that the mandatory law wouldn’t result in many more hunters wearing blaze orange.
Del. Thomas further argued the mandatory law would increase rather than decrease the number of hunting deaths.
