Auditions to be held
Auditions for the annual RAAC Talent Show to be performed on Saturday, June 25, will be held at the Gay St. Theatre on Wednesday, May 25, at 6 p.m. Aspiring performers, in all age groups, are welcome to audition for the show. Gallery coffee house
A gallery coffee house will be held Saturday, May 14, from 8:30 to midnight at the Middle St. Gallery in Washington. Come and participate with a song, story, poem, music or just come listen and enjoy. Refreshments will be available. For more information call 675-3440.
Crafters wanted for festival
The Sperryville Fire Department and Sperryville Rescue Squad will hold their first craft festival on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20 and 21, at the fire hall on Rt. 211 west. All crafters are welcome. To reserve booth space, or for more information, call 987-8170.
Help offered for Ag problems
Jack Dunford, Farm Management, Extension Agent, will be in the Rappahannock Extension Office to handle phone calls and visits pertaining to agriculture on Mondays in May and June from 9 a.m. to noon. Any resident with questions or problems pertaining to agriculture should call or stop by the Extension Office on Gay St., in Washington, to talk with Mr. Dunford. He will be available for farm visits in the afternoons, if such services are needed. Please come by or give the Extension Office a call at 675-3619.
Volunteer dinner planned
Rappahannock County’s second Volunteer Recognition Dinner will be held on Tuesday, May 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington fire hall. This will be a covered dish dinner, and all volunteers in the county are urged to attend. The guest speaker will be State Senator Kevin Miller. The dinner is sponsored by the Rappahannock County Extension Service, the Extension Homemakers and the Volunteer Services of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Service Center. Sale to benefit St. Peter’s
St. Peter’s Catholic Mission will have a bake sale and miscella neous sale on Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, at the old hote building in Sperryville. Any donations of quality baked goods, house hold items or books would be greatly appreciated. Proceeds will bene fit the building fund of St. Peter’s. For additional information call 937 4406. Philanthropy topic of talk
The Rappahannock County Library’s Monday Night Alternative will address “The Rockefellers in Rappahannock (?) and Elsewhere.’ William M. Dietel, president of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, will address philanthropy in the 1980s. The program, co-sponsored by RAAC, will be held at the Gay St. Theatre on Monday, May 23, at 7:3CJ p.m. A reception will follow at the library. There is no admission charge and the public is invited.
‘The Aristocats’
The movie The Aristocats will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday, May 14, at 2 p.m. only and Sunday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. only. A cast of fanciful felines takes center stage for this animated tale based on a true story of Parisian cats that became heirs to a fortune in the early 1900s. Songs by Sherman Brothers (of Mary Poppins fame) add to the light-hearted fun of this film which has become a favorite of moviegoers around the world. The movie is rated G. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
