how to prevent their friends from driving drunk.

Young people must be taught to understand that they must never get in a vehicle with anyone who has been drinking, including an adult. Parents need to offer solutions for handling such difficult situations and be willing to help by offering to pick up their teens or to hold alcohol-free parties at home.

The dangers of drunk driving must be understood by teenagers before they are handed the keys to a car. It is up to parents to make sure their children don’t just hear the words, but really understand that their lives are in danger. Teenagers tend to believe they’re immortal. Let’s not wait for a tragedy to prove to them they’re not.

The PTA wishes to commend the high school’s SADD Chapter for all its work to make the prom weekend a safe one and wishes to encourage parents to do their part to keep our roads and our teenagers safe.
