With the Memorial Day weekend fast approaching, most families are busy making plans for holiday outings to usher in the traditional beginning of summer.
The Sperryville Business Council suggests that a perfect way to spend the weekend is a visit to its Sperryville Springfest, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29. “Come enjoy our scenic town and help us celebrate the beauty of spring in the Blue Ridge Mountains,” said Cheri Woodard, the council’s president.
Nestled at the foot of the mountains on Rt. 211, Sperryville boasts an ever-increasing assortment of craft shops, antique dealers and other merchants. This year, the third annual Springfest will offer even more events than before. “It’s shaping up to be another big festival to usher in the summer,” Ms. Woodard said.
Begun five years ago as Faith Mountain Company’s “ Festival of f ‘jnerican Crafts,” the Springfest finally outgrew its longtime site at Faith Mountain on Main St. This year, the craft exhibits will be centered at Oldway Craft Village, on Rt. 211 west of town. ■ As in years past, however, other stores and merchants throughout the town will also sponsor their own craft demonstrations.
