While frying a small fish recently I was reminded of Lao Tzu’s advice about ruling a state . . . with as little turning as possible.

But our economic system is showing its terrible weaknesses: America is hated around the world for exploiting smaller nations, industrialists are polluting the planet, corporations are abandoning us to go international and the dollar and the stock market are in danger of collapsing.

God allowed communism to develop to curb some of capitalism’s excesses - after every peaceful means of socialism and fair shake for the worker was demoralized and crushed by rich industrialists. But communism is a reaction ... a throwback to the tribal economics of when matriarchy flourished. Capitalism, on the other hand, is obviously a product of the patriarchy, where every’ man has the same potential of becoming a Daddy Warbucks, or so it is claimed.

The theory of communism says that out of the struggle between the two forces a new’ economics will arise combining qualities of both. I think that is what Gorbachev’s “glasnost” and Teng’s “New Capitalism” are all about. Capitalism, though, views its future as endless - space offers it a whole new’ empire to exploit: infinite suns w'ith planets and people to turn into markets and products . . . forever and ever - quite unlike every otmer institution the earth has ever seen; which like people, are bom, grow old and die.
