On Saturday this correspondent was honored and privileged to meet with Beverly Payne Chesser of famed Beverly Exercise, a nonprofit organization based in Anderson, S.C. Mrs. Chesser returned to her native Culpeper for one day to pick up daughter Leah who had been visiting Beverly’s sister June Breeden in Reva. I enjoyed lunch at the home of her mother Mrs. Leah Payne in Culpeper. Other luncheon guests included Beverly’s husband Ryland Chesser, daughter Leah and sisters Linda Snyder and Sue Lieb. I was amazed to learn how her ministry has expanded to 2200 stations. Besides exercise tapes and nutrition tapes she has written a book entitled “Your Health Coach,” to be published in a few weeks. Sandra Payne celebrated her birthday Sunday with a cookout attended by her father Russell Grubbs of Lynchburg, her sister Nancy Miller and husband Lloyd erf Altavista, another sister Lois and Charmin Lawhome, Fran and Dave of Hurt, Va., her brother Lannie Grubbs of Altavista. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hall of Irvington and friends Dorothy and Ronald Purvis and their daughter Jenny of Fairfax also attended the celebration. Mrs. Payne’s birthday is July 5.

Wilma Ray also celebrated her birthday July 4.

Alice and Wayne Shannon, with daughters Rachel, Melody and Holly, went to Staunton Monday to participate in the festival. They are members of the Bull Run Cloggers based in Manassas.

Mary and Charlie Priest, Jean and Nelson Burner spent the weekend in Lancaster, Pa.

Aubrey Settle is in Fauquier Hospital. Sim Hutton is also ill.

Mrs. Mac O. Matthews of Calli, Colombia, South America, and Ono, Ala., recently spent two weeks with Mrs. Thomas L. Eastham at Ben Venue.
