According to the extended forecast ■ from the National Weather Service, the county is in for a spectacular weekend. Sunny skies and daytime temperatures in the 70s are predicted each day, with nighttime lows dropping into the high 40s.

Fall leaf watch

It's still too early to predict with certainty when the peak of fall colors in the area will be. Janet Stombock, a naturalist on the staff at Shenandoah National Park, isahd that warm sunny days are still needed i along with the cool nights to bring out the best colors. "All this rain has really messed : things up," she said. "We're still going with ; peak sometime between Oct. 5 and Oct. 20."
