'Little Apple'
prepares for
fall festival

Ripened apples overflow baskets; fragrant cider simmers; a festive air settles over Sperryville’s historic district as members of the Sperryville Business Council prepare for the fifth annual Apple Harvest Festival, planned for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., rain or shine.
Businesses from the historic town’s most western edge to its eastern end mark the harvest with their free annual festival, a weekend filled with events, food, music and autumn sales, townwide.
As music filters through the autumn trees, exchanging their green colors for fall’s red, yellow, burgundy and rust, apple butter bubbles at the Country Manor, quilters exhibit their handiwork at the Sperryville Emporium and Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers dish up homebaked breads, cookies and other items outside the Sperryville Antique Market.
