These eight are called essential amino acids. The highest quality protein food contains all eight. Examples are meat, fish and poultry.
Not all plant sources are missing or are low in the same essential amino acid, so it is possible to combine two plant sources of protein to get a complete protein. Bread and peanut butter are such a combination. Or, the missing amino acid may be supplied by an animal protein such as milk.
