Despite a recommendation for denial from its Planning Commission, and protests from several residents, Washington’s Town Council approved the addition of one county resident to its expanded Architectural Review Board.
The planners and council held a joint public hearing at the Sept. 13 meeting to hear the town’s residents’ reaction to a plan to allow one county resident to sit on the ARB, which must approve all exterior modifications and additions to buildings within the town limits. The board was created as part of the town’s designation as a historic district in 1984.
