The elementary school was designated as an emergency shelter, with Social Services personnel delegated to staff the shelter and provide hot food and drinks to evacuees.
School Superintendent Dr. David Gangel arranged to have cafeteria workers available to assist with food preparations. The school bus garage was alerted to have buses fueled and ready to go in case large scale evacuations of entire areas were necessary.
On Thursday evening’s regular fire and rescue broadcast, all county fire and rescue personnel were alerted to stand by on Friday. The Sheriff s Department also requested that all available four-wheel drive vehicles be prepared to assist in evacuations if needed.
Sheriff Woodward said he had all of his deputies and dispatchers on stand-by as well in case their services were needed.
