Government Growth and Spending: Watching the State budget double in the past eight years under two Democratic administrations—a rate of growth, by the w^y, almost twice that of the federal government, and you thought that was bad! Marshall Coleman pledges not to seek a tax increase as governor. And he will veto any passed by the General Assembly. Recent increases have seriously eroded Virginia’s appeal as a low tax state; business is not as likely now to choose Virginia, which will reduce new jobs and hurt us all. Are we really getting twice as much from state government as wt did in 1981, even adjusting for infla tion?
No, Marshall Coleman is not perfect. Yes, he has changed his mind. Who doesn’t, including his opponent and his gyrations on the death penalty for the most serious crimes? By experience, because of his beliefs, positions and plans for the future, Marshall Coleman is the best candidate and deserves our votes as Virginia’s next Governor.
