Approximately 1.5 miles north of ( astleton on Rt. 618 is Crest wood, the contemporary cedar home of William R. and Anne Furtick. built in 1980 around a central garden.
To the right, off the wide, tiled entrance hall is the living, dining and kitchen wing while off the left are bedrooms, all looking into the central garden across a deep, covered terrace.
One mile southwest of Amissville on the south side of Rt. 642 is Grenelefe, the home of Col. and Mrs. Ellis Bingham. It dates back to approximately 1740 when it began as a two story loghouse.
The house tour and flower sale will run on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 11 a-m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Block tickets are on sale both at the Parish Hall and the houses are $6 and tickets to individual homes are $2.o(). The block ticket includes tea at Greenfield from 2-5 p.m. Box lunches will be available at Trinity Church from the ladies of Washington First Baptist Church.
Also open during the tour weekend will be Miss Ruby Jenkins’ Washington Museum.
