Nearing the end of September, the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington is a beehive of activity.
Serving now as the workshop, on Oct. 21 and 22 the Parish Hall will be the headquarters for the Thirtythird Annual House Tour and Dried Flower Sale sponsored by the Women of Bromfield Parish. Between now and the day before the opening of the tour ladies will be making the hundreds of arrangements which will go on display and sale.
Since spring the ladies have been growing flowers in their gardens for later cutting and drying. They have literally beaten the bushes to gather wild flowers of the county as well as ferns, grasses, milkweed, Joe Pie weed and many others, all to be trimmed and dried in attics and garages throughout the county.
Now the harvest hangs in the Parish Hall to fill hundreds of pots, vases, baskets and other containers or to be combined with pieces of weathered wood in artistic arrangements which later will grace homes in New England, Ohio, Georgia and elsewhere.
