John Payne
John Delbert Payne, 64, of Marshall, died Sept. 21, at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy V. Payne; two daughters, Margaret Andreae of Warrenton, Linda Thorpe of Amissville; one son, Jerry Payne of Marshall; his mother, Ada Geneva Payne of Richmond; six sisters, Virginia Frazier of Marshall, Bertha Marshall of Gainesville, Elizabeth Putnam of Hume, Viola Heflin of Orlean, Irene Pittman and Susie Roberts, both of Richmond; one brother, Alvin Payne of New Jersey; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 23 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Elder Elmer Skeen officiated. Interment wais in the Orlean Cemetery.
Lena Carson
Mrs. Lena Ashby Carson of Culpeper, died on Sept. 20, at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Rappahannock County.
Survivors include her husband James Carson of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Warner of Culpeper; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Herbert of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Lou Pendleton of Strasburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sept. 22, at Bible Way Church in Catalpa. Elder Glen Rorie of Washington, D.C. officiated. Interment was in Culpeper National Cemetery.
W.C. Thompson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
