Skin cancer and skin care will be the topics of May’s free health forum at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.

The forum, to be presented by Dr. George Broman of Culpeper Surgical Associates and Dr. Amauri Gonzalez of Culpeper Family Practice, will be held in the boardroom of the hospital on May 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Broman will discuss the various types of skin cancer and the statistics regarding cancerous lesions. He will also review the dangers to look for and what they mean, and the surgical vs. nonsurgical approaches to treating cancer.

“Sun is the major factor in causing skin cancer. Dangers from the sun will not be visible until later down the road, and then it will be too late,” said Dr. Broman.

“Attending this forum would be worthy of consideration with the summer season approaching, although skin cancer is not just a one season problem,” Dr. Broman continued.
