At the special meeting of

the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors held Friday, the proposed budget was approved; however, the tax rate was left at $4.10, the same as the previous year. An increase of five cents, to make the levy $4.15 had been anticipated, but balance in school funds made this unncessary.

A Bake Sale will be held Saturday, May 23, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Sperryville Comer Store. The sale is for the benefit of the Sperryville United Methodist Church.

A dinner honoring retiring

Trooper, W. A. Buntin of Washington, was held Saturday evening at the Coach and Caverns in Luray given by fellow members of Area 14 of the Second Division of the Virginia Department of State Police. Approximately 180 people were present to extend best wishes to him. Trooper Buntin has served with the V.S.P. for over 29 years, all of which has been in Rappahannock. He is a native of Halifax County.

The school calendar for 197576 has been adopted by the Rappahannock County School Board. Schools will open on August 25 and the session is due to end on June 4. Pre-school tea
