As spring settles itself in Rappahannock County, Sperryville shopkeepers prepare for their annual Sperryville Spring Festival, held Memorial Day weekend, May 26, 27 and 28.
“There’s something for everyone,” Sperryville Business Council President Scott Sutton said, adding the annual event includes horse and buggy rides down Sperryville’s Main Street, arts and crafts and demonstrations by local and visiting artists, antique sales, glass blowing and good food.
With events starting at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and continuing down Rt. 211 toward and through the Sperryville town center to the Sperryville Antique Market, the weekend promises excitement, fun and bargains for everyone.
A special feature for this year’s event is the Civl War encampment, posted between the Church Mouse and Faith Mountain Herbs on Main Street. The encampment, complete with period-dressed soldiers and their women amid campfires and two-men tents, is part of the Palmetto Regement, originally from South Carolina but now composed of Virginians.
